The LBD teachers believe in putting our students first. That's why we put so much emphasis on skilled safe teaching. There is no national, or international, governing body for belly dance as it is a folk dance style and differs from place to place. So, we have created a modular, competency based, course that is designed to train new teachers to first year University level in the essential elements of teaching belly dance - in particular in keeping students safe and having fun while they learn. We believe that proper, rigourous training is essential for all dance based exercise classes

What is the the Learn Belly Dance Teacher Training Course?

A competency-based teacher training course to equip you to run successful, fun and safe classes for women to discover their inner wiggle!

The Learn Belly Dance teacher training course is designed to enable you to enhance your existing skills and gain new ones in an environment that values your experience and knowledge. Based on ten years of teaching some of the busiest belly dance classes in the UK, we have developed a teacher training course that brings together the elements of that success and enables all women to gain the benefits of our wonderful dance form.

When does the course run?

The foundation section (two modules of the course) runs approximately once a year, the 2011/12 course starts in December with the second module in January and the third, optional, module in February. We have updated the course for 2011 keeping all the valuable elements of the original dance leaders' course and adding an extra module focused on the history, current practice and variations of belly dance.
