The Kasbah Club Performance Expectations

What do I need to do if I'm offered a slot to perform?

We want dancers to feel really good about their performance at Kasbah Club whether it's their debut as a soloist or they are really experienced. In order to make the night run as smoothly as possible, we have set out a few guidelines for both organisers and dancers. Please read the list and ask if there is anything you're not sure about.

The most important thing about dancing at Kasbah is that the performers are presenting their own style of dance. We've had modern Cairo style, old style glam, gothic tribal, American cabaret, all sorts of fusion and we love it! That means you need to be the orginator of your dance. So, although new dancers should always ask their teacher's advice, don't be tempted to simply dance one of her routines. If you do use part r all of another dancer's work - tell us and we'll acknowledge that dancer.

What you can expect from us:

That a promised slot will be available to you - we don't bump people, if we think you might be better rescheduled we'll talk to you in plenty of time so you get the best service for your dance.

That we will make sure the dancefloor is clear and clean and that the audience understand the impact of their behaviour on the performers. Audience members who get up and move about during performances will be penalised.

That we will schedule the sets and ensure you know when you are dancing, that we know whether you start on or off stage, that we support you if you are nervous or worried.

That we will have decent quality equipment to ensure your music is played to best effect

What we expect from you:

That you will turn up to dance as arranged! If you find you can't dance for whatever reason and however close to the time, please let us know as soon as you can. Life happens we all know that but the more notice we have the better we can cope.

That you have prepared for you performance with proper rehearsal and that you are ready to go on (emotionally as well as physically!) when your time arrives. If you need support, tell us!

That you respect the other dancers. This should go without saying but we have had to deal with prima donas even at Kasbah Club and frankly, we don't have time!

That you ensure your choice of music is sent to Katy C as soon as you have decided what you are dancing to. This means we don't have duplicates and the show can be balanced.

That you send a copy of the music on CD or emailed as an MP3/4 to Katy C at least a week before the performance. This allows for any last minute hitches or problems to be dealt with. Anyone not supplying music when requested may be removed from that show's programme. It's too much to expect us to chase one person when everyone else has supplied their music.

That you have a good time! Please let us know if you don't! Seriously, you give us your time and talent and the least we can do is make sure you enjoy it.

If you have any questions email Katy C
